آپکو اولاد چاہیے کیوں ہے؟ وہ جو خلا میں گھور رہی تھیں، میرے بولنے پر چونکیں۔
کس کو نہیں چاہیے؟
جی چاہیے تو سب کو ہے مگر آپکو کیوں چاہیے۔ اتنی بڑی جاگیر ہے، کوٹھی ہے، ٹھاٹ باٹھ ہے۔ پھر آپکو یہ ایک نعمت اور بھی چاہیے؟
باقی نعمتوں کو بچانے کے لیے یہ ایک نعمت مانگ رہی ہوں۔ اگر اولاد نہیں ہوئی تو یہ کوٹھی، یہ جاگیر، سب کچھ خاندان میں بٹ جائے گا۔ یہ جس باغ میں تم بیٹھی ہو، یہ ہمارا ہی ہے۔ اگر یہ کسی اور کا ہوگیا تو میں ادھر کیسے آؤں گی۔ یہاں کی خوبصورتی پھر کبھی نہیں دیکھ پاؤں گی۔ راجہ کا تخت بھی کسی اور کا ہو جائے گا۔ ہم اپنے ہی گھر سے بےگھر کر دیے جائیں گے۔ اور بڑھاپے میں در در کی ٹھوکریں ہماری قسمت ٹھہریں گی۔ کوئی سنبھالنے والا نہیں ہوگا
آپکو نہیں لگتا کہ سنبھالنے والی ذات صرف اللہ پاک کی ہے؟ اس سوال پر وہ اچانک خاموش ہوگئیں۔
مگر رب نے دنیا میں وسیلے بھی تو بنائے ہیں۔ اولاد وہی وسیلہ نہیں تمھارے خیال میں؟” کچھ دیر بعد وہ بولی تھیں۔
آپکو اتنا یقین کیوں ہے کہ اگر آپکی اولاد ہوئی تو وہ فرماں بردار ہی ہوگی۔ وہ تخت کے نشے میں کچھ غلط کر کے آپکو گڑھ میں ذلیل نہیں کروائے گی۔ وہ آپکو بوڑھا اور بوجھ تصور کر کہ اپنے گھر سے نہیں نکالے گی؟
کافی دیر تک ایک لمبی چپ انہیں گھیرے رہی۔
ہمارے آباء میں آج تک کسی نے تخت کے نشے میں کچھ غلط نہیں کیا۔ وہ بہت یقین سے بولی تھیں۔
مگر! بہت ساری چیزیں زندگی میں پہلی بار ہی ہوا کرتی ہیں۔” ایک ثانیے کو انکا چہرہ زرد پڑ گیا۔
تو تمہارا مطلب ہے میں اپنے لیے آزمائش مانگ رہی ہوں؟ اور مجھے اولاد کی طلب ختم کر دینی چاہیے؟
میں نے نفی میں سر ہلایا۔
میرا ہر گز یہ مطلب نہیں ہے۔ آپ بس اپنی نیت ٹھیک کرلیں تو اولاد آپ کے لیے آزمائش نہیں رحمت ہو جائے گی۔
وہ کیسے
ایک نبی کی بات بتاؤں آپکو؟ میں نے پوچھا تو وہ ہلکا سا مسکرا دیں۔
ہاں بتاؤ!
زکریا علیہ السلام نام تھا اُن کا۔ وہ کافی بوڑھے ہو چکے تھے اور ان کی اولاد نہیں تھی۔ تو انہوں نے اللہ سے دعا کی۔ اب آپ اُن کی دعا کے طریقے پر غور کرنا
وہ محو ہو کر سن رہی تھیں۔
سب سے پہلے اپنی حالت اللہ کو بتائی۔ اللہ پاک میری ہڈیاں کمزور ہو گئی ہیں اور میں بہت بوڑھا ہو گیا ہوں۔
میں نے آپ کو بھی کہا تھا کہ اپنی حالت اللہ کو بتایا کریں۔ اللہ کو بندے کی گریہ و زاری سننا اچھا لگتا ہے۔۔ اللہ کو پتہ تھا کہ اس کا نبی کتنا بوڑھا ہے پھر بھی نبی نے بتایا۔
اپنی حالت بتانے کے بعدحضرت زکریا علیہ السلام بولے۔
اے میرے رب میں آپکو پکار کے کبھی محروم نہیں رہا۔
کتنا اچھا لگا ہو گا اللہ کو، کہ میرا بندہ مانتا تو ہے کہ جب بھی اس نے کچھ مانگا، میں نے اسے خالی ہاتھ نہیں لوٹایا۔جب بندہ اللہ کا احسان مان لے تو اللہ کیا اپنے بندے کو خالی ہاتھ لوٹائیں گے؟ مگر پتا ہے کہ بات دعا کی نیت کی بھی ہوتی ہے۔ آپ کو اولاد چاہیے اپنی جاگیر اور بڑھاپے کے لیے۔ آپ کو پتا ہے کہ حضرت زکریا علیہ السلام کو اولاد کیوں چاہیے تھی؟
اس نے معصومیت سے سر نفی میں ہلا دیا۔
انہیں اپنے بعد اپنے رشتہ داروں کا ڈر تھا۔
وہ ذرا چونکیں۔
نہیں آپ غلط سمجھی ہیں۔ انہیں یہ ڈر تھا کہ انکی وفات کے بعد انکے رشتہ دار، جن میں شریر لوگ بھی تھے، دین میں کوئی تبدیلی نہ کر دیں کیوں کہ اس وقت اور کوئی نبی نہیں تھا۔ انہوں نے اولاد اللہ کا دین بچانے کی خاطر مانگی تھی۔ کوئی تخت بچانے یا اپنی ناموری یا بڑھاپے کے سہارے کے لیے نہیں۔ سہارا تو بس ایک اللہ کا ہے جو بچپن اور جوانی میں سنبھال سکتا ہے اس کے لیے بڑھاپے میں سنبھالنا مشکل نہیں ہے۔ اور انہوں نے یہ بھی کہا کہ اے اللہ مجھے اپنے پاس سے وارث عطا فرمائیں اور اسے پسندیدہ بنا دیں۔
میں سمجھتی ہوں کہ جب دعا ایسے کر لی جائے تو اولاد آزمائش نہیں رحمت بنا کر دی جاتی ہو گی۔ اللہ پاک نے ان کا خلوص، نیت اور طریقہ دیکھا ہو گا شاید اور پھر جو اولاد دی اس کے بارے میں پتا ہے کہ کیا فرمایا؟ جوش سے میرے گال لال پڑ گئے تھے۔
فرمایا، اے زکریا ؑ !ہم تجھے ایک لڑکے کی خوشخبری دیتے ہیں جسکا نام یحییٰ ہے، اس سے پہلے ہم نے اس نام کا کوئی دوسرا نہ بنایا۔
اللہ پاک نے ان کی اولاد کا نام بھی خود رکھا۔ آپ سوچ بھی سکتی ہیں یہ کتنا بڑا اعزاز ہے؟ اور پھراللہ پاک نے حضرت یحیٰی علیہ السلام کے اتنے خوبصورت اوصاف بیان کیے قران میں اور پھر اُن پر سلامتی بھیجی۔
انکی آنکھوں میں نمی کی وجہ سے سورج کی روشنی منعکس ہورہی تھی۔ ایک واضح روشنی۔ جو گمراہی کی دھند کے چھٹنے کی گواہ ہوتی ہے۔
اب بس آپ بھی اللہ سے وہ اولاد مانگیں جو اللہ کی پسندیدہ ہو، نبی کا طریقہ اپنائیں۔ جو رب حضرت زکریا علیہ السلام کا ہے وہی آپ کا ہے۔ وہ ان کو دے سکتا ہے تو آپ کو بھی دے دے گا۔

“Why do you want children?” She, who was staring into space, was startled by my words.
“Who doesn’t want them?”
“Yes, everyone wants children, but why do you want them? You have such a vast estate, a mansion, luxury—then why do you need this one more blessing?”
“I am asking for this blessing to protect the others. If I don’t have children, this mansion, this estate—everything will be divided among the family. This beautiful garden where you are sitting belongs to us. If it goes to someone else, how will I come here? I will never be able to see its beauty again. The king’s throne will also belong to someone else. We will be driven out of our own home, and in old age, we will be left to wander helplessly! There will be no one to take care of us!”
“Don’t you think that the only One who truly takes care of us is Allah?” At this question, she suddenly fell silent.
“But Allah has created means in this world, hasn’t He? Isn’t a child one of those means, in your opinion?” After a while, she spoke again.
“Why are you so sure that if you have a child, they will be obedient? That they won’t, in the intoxication of power, bring disgrace to you? That they won’t consider you a burden in your old age and throw you out of your own home?”
A long silence surrounded her.
“In our ancestors, no one has ever done anything wrong for the sake of the throne.” She spoke with great confidence.
“But! Many things in life happen for the first time.” For a moment, her face turned pale.
“So, you mean to say that I am asking for a trial? That I should give up my desire for children?”
I shook my head in denial.
“Not at all. I just mean that if you purify your intention, then children will not be a trial for you but a blessing.”
“How?”
“Shall I tell you about another Prophet?” I asked, and she smiled lightly.
“Yes, tell me!”
“His name was Zakariya (A.S.). He had grown very old and had no children. So, he prayed to Allah. Now, pay attention to how he prayed.”
She listened attentively.
“First, he described his condition to Allah: ‘O Allah, my bones have become weak, and I have grown very old.’ I told you before that you should always express your condition to Allah. Allah loves to hear His servant’s cries and supplications. Of course, Allah already knew how old His prophet was, but still, Zakariya (A.S.) told Him.
After describing his condition, he said, ‘O my Lord, I have never been disappointed when I called upon You.’ Imagine how pleasing it must have been to Allah, that His servant acknowledges that whenever he asked for something, Allah never sent him back empty-handed. But you see, the intention behind the prayer also matters. You want children for your estate and old age. Do you know why Zakariya (A.S.) wanted children?”
She shook her head innocently.
“He feared his relatives after his death.”
She looked surprised.
“No, you misunderstood. He feared that after his passing, his relatives, among whom there were wicked people, might alter the religion, as there was no other prophet at that time. He asked for children to preserve Allah’s religion, not to secure a throne, gain fame, or have support in old age. The only true support is Allah… The One who takes care of us in youth can certainly take care of us in old age. And in his prayer, he also asked Allah to grant him a righteous heir and make him beloved.
I believe that when a prayer is made with such sincerity, the child is given not as a trial but as a blessing. And do you know what Allah said about the child He granted?” My cheeks flushed with enthusiasm.
“Allah said, ‘O Zakariya, We give you good news of a son whose name will be Yahya. We have never given this name to anyone before.’ Allah Himself named his child. Can you even imagine what a great honor that is? And then Allah described Yahya (A.S.) with such beautiful qualities in the Quran and even sent peace upon him.”
Her eyes shimmered with tears as the sunlight reflected off them—a clear light, a testimony to the lifting of the fog of misguidance.
“You should also pray for a righteous child, follow the way of the prophets. Allah alone is enough for your old age. Just ask for children for the sake of spreading His religion. The same Allah who gave Zakariya (A.S.) a child can give you one too. For Him, it is very easy.”
She slowly nodded, and tears rolled down her cheeks. But this time, they were not tears of despair—they were filled with hope.

“Aapko aulaad chahiye kyun hai?” Wo jo khala mein ghoor rahi thin, mere bolne par chonk gayin.
“Kis ko nahi chahiye?”
“Ji chahiye toh sab ko hai magar aapko kyun chahiye? Itni badi jagir hai, kothi hai, thaath baath hai. Phir aapko yeh ek naimat aur bhi chahiye?”
“Baaki naimaton ko bachane ke liye yeh ek naimat maang rahi hoon. Agar aulaad nahi hui toh yeh kothi, yeh jagir, sab kuch khandan mein batt jayega. Yeh jis bagh mein tum baithi ho, yeh hamara hi hai. Agar yeh kisi aur ka ho gaya toh mein idhar kaise aaungi? Yahan ki khoobsurti phir kabhi nahi dekh paungi. Raja ka takht bhi kisi aur ka ho jayega. Hum apne hi ghar se beghar kar diye jayenge. Aur budhape mein dar dar ki thokrein hamari kismat thehri gi. Koi sambhalne wala nahi hoga!”
“Aapko nahi lagta ke sambhalne wali zaat sirf Allah Pak ki hai?” Is sawal par wo achanak khamosh ho gayin.
“Magar Rab ne duniya mein waseele bhi toh banaye hain. Aulaad wohi waseela nahi tumhare khayal mein?” Kuch dair baad wo boli thin.
“Aapko itna yaqeen kyun hai ke agar aapki aulaad hui toh woh farmabardar hi hogi? Woh takht ke nashe mein kuch ghalat karke aapko garh mein zaleel nahi karwaye gi? Woh aapko boodha aur bojh tasavvur kar ke apne ghar se nahi nikal de gi?”
Kaafi dair tak ek lambi chup unhein ghere rahi.
“Hamare aabaa mein aaj tak kisi ne takht ke nashe mein kuch ghalat nahi kiya.” Wo bohot yaqeen se boli thin.
“Magar! Bohat sari cheezein zindagi mein pehli baar hi hoti hain.” Ek saniye ko unka chehra zard pad gaya.
“To tumhara matlab hai mein apne liye aazmaish maang rahi hoon? Aur mujhe aulaad ki talab khatam kar deni chahiye?”
Maine nafi mein sar hila diya.
“Mera har giz yeh matlab nahi hai. Aap bas apni niyyat theek kar lein toh aulaad aapke liye aazmaish nahi rehmat ho jayegi.”
“Woh kaise?”
“Ek aur Nabi ki baat bataun aapko?” Maine poocha toh wo halka sa muskara dein.
“Haan batao!”
“Unka naam Zakariya (A.S.) tha. Woh kaafi boodhay ho chuke thay aur unki aulaad nahi thi. Toh unhon ne Allah se dua ki. Ab aap unki dua ke tareeke par gaur karna.”
Woh mahv ho kar sunn rahi thin.
“Sab se pehle unhon ne apni haalat Allah ko batai. ‘Allah Pak, meri haddiyan kamzor ho gayi hain aur main bohot boodha ho gaya hoon.’ Maine aapko pehle bhi kaha tha na ke apni haalat Allah ko bataya karein, Allah ko acha lagta hai apne bande ki giriya-o-zari sunna. Allah ko toh pata tha unka banda kitna boodha hai, phir bhi Nabi ne bataya.
Toh haalat batane ke baad Hazrat Zakariya (A.S.) bole, ‘Ae mere Rab, main jab bhi aapko pukarta hoon kabhi mehroom nahi rehta.’ Sochiye, Allah ko kitna acha laga hoga, ke uska banda maanta hai ke jab bhi usne kuch maanga, Allah ne use khaali haath nahi lautaya. Phir jab koi banda Allah ka ehsaan maan le toh kya Allah use khaali haath lautayenge?”
“Magar pata hai, baat sirf dua ki nahi, dua ki niyyat ki bhi hoti hai. Aapko aulaad chahiye apni jagir aur boodhape ke liye. Hazrat Zakariya (A.S.) ko aulaad pata hai kyun chahiye thi?”
Usne masoomiyat se sar nafi mein hila diya.
“Unhein apne baad apne rishtedaron ka darr tha.”
Woh zara chonki.
“Nahi, aap ghalat samjhi hain. Unhein yeh darr tha ke unki wafat ke baad unke rishtedaar, jin mein shararati log bhi thay, deen mein koi tabdili na kar dein kyunki us waqt aur koi Nabi nahi tha. Unhon ne aulaad Allah ka deen bachane ki khaatir maangi thi, koi takht bachane ya apni naamwari ya boodhape ke sahare ke liye nahi. Sahara toh bas ek hai—Allah… Jo bachpan aur jawani mein sambhal sakta hai, uske liye boodhape mein sambhalna mushkil nahi hai.”
“Aur unhon ne dua mein yeh bhi kaha, ‘Mujhe apne paas se waris ata farmaiye, aur use pasandeeda bana dijiye.’ Main samajhti hoon ke jab dua aise ki jaye, toh woh aulaad aazmaish nahi, rehmat bana kar di jati hogi.”
“Toh Allah Pak ne unka ikhlas, niyyat aur tareeqa dekha hoga shayad. Aur phir jo aulaad di, uske baare mein pata hai kya farmaya?” Josh se mere gaal surkh pad gaye thay.
“Farmaya, ‘Ae Zakariya (A.S.), hum tujhe ek larkay ki khushkhabri dete hain jiska naam Yahya hoga, is se pehle humne kisi ko bhi yeh naam nahi diya.'”
“Allah Pak ne unki aulaad ka naam bhi khud rakha. Aap soch bhi sakti hain yeh kitna bara azaaz hai? Aur phir itne khoobsurat oosaf Hazrat Yahya (A.S.) ke Allah Pak ne Quran mein bayan kiye, aur phir unpar salaamti bheji.”
Unki aankhon mein nami ki wajah se sooraj ki roshni munakis ho rahi thi—ek wazeh roshni, jo gumrahi ki dhund ke chhatne ki gawah hoti hai.
“Aap bhi pasandeeda aulaad maangiye, Nabi ka tareeqa apnaiye, aapke boodhape ko Allah kaafi hai. Aap bas Allah ka deen phailane ke liye aulaad maangiye. Jo Rab Hazrat Zakariya (A.S.) ka hai, wahi aapka bhi hai. Woh unko de sakta hai, toh aapko bhi de dega. Yeh Allah ke liye bohot asaan hai.”
Usne hole se sar hilaaya toh aankhon mein bhara pani gaalon par larhak gaya, magar ab ki baar yeh mayoosi ke aansu nahi thay—unmein umeed thi.
